How a delivery works, end to end
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Context
You want to understand the full path an order takes from the moment it's ready to the moment your customer has it in hand.
Answer
Here's a delivery start to finish:
Order ready. Once you've fulfilled an order, it's marked ready for delivery through your normal flow (via your delivery orchestration platform or integration). Nothing changes about how your team prepares an order.
Dispatch. Autolane assigns the delivery to an autonomous vehicle and sets it on its way. You don't schedule or route anything — it's handled automatically.
Customer notified. Your customer receives a text with a live tracking link. The estimated arrival time is calculated automatically from when the order was ready plus current traffic conditions.
En route. Your customer can follow the vehicle on the tracking link in real time, and you can see the same delivery live on your Autolane dashboard.
Arrival & handoff. When the vehicle arrives, your customer uses a secure, single-use link to unlock it and retrieve their order directly from the vehicle. No delivery person is involved in the handoff.
Confirmed. Once the order is retrieved, the delivery is marked complete and reflected in your dashboard.
